The island of Madeira, off the northwest coast of Africa, was a safe haven for the great Portuguese navigators who made their discoveries at the turn of the XV–XVI centuries. In the aromatic composition of Ilha da Madeira 1419 soap perfumers of Antiga Barbearia de Bairro included notes of flowers and trees of those species that traditionally grow on the island. This includes strelitzia, the image of which adorned the packaging.
The composition of the soap is enriched with glycerin, gently moisturizing the skin of the body during morning or evening shower. Persistent woody-floral fragrance remains for some time in the form of a light trail after bathing.
