Before shaving, soak one towel in hot water and place it on the areas to be shaved. Heat and moisture help prepare the skin, soften the beard, and make the next pass with a sharp blade easier to approach.
After shaving, rinse away any remaining lather with cold water and gently dry the face with the second fresh towel. Using two towels makes it easier to keep the preparation step and the finishing step separate.
