A razor with a comfortable handle and a small head that easily passes even in hard-to-reach areas — for example, the areas under the nose or near the ears. The aggressiveness is easily adjusted by turning the handle directly while shaving. Suitable for both the beginner who is transitioning from cartridge razors and the more experienced user.
The razor is also convenient for those who do not shave regularly — depending on the length of the bristles, you can choose the necessary level of aggressiveness. Level 1—2 is suitable for thin bristles, level 3 for medium stiff bristles that have grown out in 2—3 days, and level 4—5 for stiff and curly bristles.
The main feature of Muramasa Tatara is the unique patented adjustable sliding base plate system developed by the company’s engineers. This design is unusual in that:
- Sliding base plates allow 2 characteristics to be changed simultaneously — clearance and outreach.
- has 5 levels of aggressiveness that can be easily changed without disassembling the razor;
- parts don’t wear out for a long time.
This razor adjustment is suitable for different stubble stiffnesses and lengths. The razor has 5 levels of aggressiveness and you can switch between them directly while shaving. The size of the reach and gap is adjusted in one movement — by turning around the axis of the upper part of the handle, and in a special window on the body you can see what level is selected — from 1 to 5. The look of this stylish dial is inspired by analog watches.
The gap size ranges from 0.6—0.9 mm, and the blade exposure can be positive, neutral, or negative:
- Mode 1 — gap — 0.60 mm / exposure (- 0.17) mm;
- Mode 2 — gap — 0.70 mm / exposure (-0.07) mm;
- Mode 3 — gap — 0.75 mm / exposure 0 mm;
- Mode 4 — gap — 0.80 mm / exposure 0.07 mm;
- Mode 5 — gap — 0.90 mm / exposure 0.17 mm.
The razor is made of particularly corrosion-resistant 316L stainless steel. It is called marine grade because it is not affected by aggressive sea water. Parts are produced on CNC razors — this allows parts to be made to a minimum tolerance of 0.02 mm, which maximizes the precision of the parts and therefore ensures less blade and head wobble when shaving. The top and bottom plates fit tightly together: this reduces the possibility of cutting yourself with the blade and does not irritate the skin.
The handle of the razor is grippy and has an unusual relief of small indentations that increase in diameter towards the head. This not only looks stylish, but also makes the surface of the handle grippy enough to prevent the razor from slipping in wet fingers.
As with the Tatara Masamune razor, the blade is set as firmly as possible and does not vibrate when shaving. Therefore, the possibility of skin damage and burns is minimized.
Included with the razor is a special key that can be used to completely disassemble the 7-piece razor for a thorough cleaning.
