A joking idea turned into the purpose of the trip, and it was in Italy that Michael and Joseph found a supply of alum in a small shop in the town of Lucca (Tuscany). The idea, the business, and the name were born at the same moment: the name RazoRock can be translated as «shaving stone.»
The new business, which began as a fun trip and a hobby, very quickly captivated Joseph and Michael, and they both plunged headfirst into the world of traditional wet shaving. They were drawn to the culture and aesthetics of what seemed to be a routine hygiene procedure. They quickly realized how delightful and appealing shaving can be for men, a craft partly forgotten in big cities.

RazoRock shaving cosmetics
The new brand started with shaving cosmetics. Michael and Joseph began contacting Italian manufacturers of shaving soap and aftershave products — since the traditions of wet classic shaving are still very much alive in Italy — and signed the first few contracts to make soaps and lotions specifically for RazoRock. The idea was to combine Italian traditions and Canadian energy in special formulas. The result exceeded expectations. Enthusiastic feedback from the first customers allowed the hobby to grow into a real business.
RazoRock cosmetics offer a fairly wide range of scents and a low price. According to the manufacturer’s statistics, the most popular scents are the «Xs»: XXX. Among our customers, the most popular scents are Plague Doctor and Razorock Blue Barbershop.

The story of the Italian trip did not end with «shaving stones." One day, Michael and Joseph came across a large batch of vintage German bakelite razors — and they added them to their lineup. However, the stock of razors, which at first seemed large, eventually ran out, while demand did not fall. Then the guys decided to make their own razor based on a German slant, but with wet shavers’ wishes in mind.
That is how the RazoRock Stealth Slant Explorer project came about. It was an experiment with a new slant made from aluminum on a CNC machine. 130 volunteers took part in this project, testing the razor and writing their feedback and reviews to help RazoRock perfect the razor geometry and release it into production.
RazoRock Stealth technical specifications:
- Total razor length: ~ 98 mm
- Handle length: ~ 91 mm
- Handle diameter: ~ 12 mm
- Weight: ~ 44 grams
- Material: 6061 aluminum
- Finish: Black anodizing

The choice of aluminum was no accident. The German razor that served as the prototype for the Stealth was made of bakelite. The downside of this material was that it was rather brittle and would start to crumble over time. However, it had several advantages. First, the weight. An exceptionally light razor delighted customers. Second, a bakelite razor did not rust. To preserve these two advantages, aluminum or titanium could be used.
The resulting razor was warmly welcomed by shaving enthusiasts. They happily described their impressions and suggestions, which Michael and Joseph carefully collected until the razor finally went into mass production.
The story of the RazoRock Stealth did not end there. By refining the geometry and eliminating flaws, the engineers released the RazoRock Wunderbar razor, which became so legendary that it remained the standard among slants for many years. The guys became so fascinated by razors that they released many other benchmark razors. Game Changer, Lupo, Hawk — these razors are incredibly popular and are among the top recommendations of wet shavers around the world.
Continuing to develop their slants, RazoRock recently released the SuperSlant series — razors that live up to their name. The «SuperSlant» is the killer of all other slants on the market, an incredibly successful model, practically tailor-made: among more than a dozen variants, you can find the perfect razor for every man’s face. We have already written a separate detailed article about this series — recommended.

Shaving brushes made of synthetic fibers were not so long ago considered something unworthy of a wet shaver, and RazoRock became one of the first companies to take synthetics to a new level — both in the quality of the fibers and in user acceptance. After that, many brush brands appeared with similar synthetics and even very similar designs.

RazoRock use several types of synthetic fibers. The most common one, used in most brushes, is Plissoft fibers with silver tips (there is a Noir variation that is completely black). This is a good fiber with medium backbone and a soft touch — like a kitten’s paw on the cheek. A slightly firmer fiber is the black one with white tips, as in the Tuxedo, while the softer one is the brown fiber with white tips in the Mokasoft.
The size of most RazoRock shaving brushes is 24 mm. There are larger brushes (26—28 mm), and there are also giants at 34 mm — The Hulk and F-400.
15 products / Shaving brushesToday RazoRock, which began with alum blocks, offers a huge range of shaving cosmetics, razors, and shaving brushes. The brand became popular and well known not only because its founders managed to catch the relevant «pain point» and the demand from men around the world to return to the roots of traditional shaving at the right time, but, much more importantly, because of their close connection with users and constant feedback. This does not let them stop at what has already been achieved; it pushes them to keep moving forward and developing new products. And every year we look forward to news from RazoRock: what will these restless minds come up with this time?
